Washington DC is run by the federal government and thus we know that they have no legalized marijuana because the federal DEA still considers it a Schedule One drug, right up there with Heroin and stuff nastier than cocaine, meth, and oxy. It is probably a bad idea to brag about smoking weed in the Capitol while rioting in an attempted coup. From Rawstory’s indefatigable ability to go through court files:

The indictment of Ronnie Sandlin cited a tweet with video that appears to show the suspect inside the gallery of the United States Senate.

“We took it, we did it,” a man in a Trump hat and blaze orange hoodie says in the video.

Sandlin appealed the trial court’s decision to keep him in jail awaiting trial and today the DC Appellate court upheld the decision. Sandlin will be awaiting trial from jail. According to prosecutors in the case:

“In the videos, Sandlin can be heard saying ‘we made history guys. People are smoking weed in here. Please, may I please hit that…I am smoking weed. Thank you patriot. We made history in here.’ In the video, Sandlin is observed smoking a type of rolled cigarette consistent with a ‘joint,’ which is typically used to smoke marijuana,” prosecutors explained in charging documents.

And, as we noted above, he lost his appeal:

We seriously doubt that the decision to hold him over had much to do with the marijuana (it didn’t help, though) and more to do with the danger he posed. Sandlin drove from his home in Las Vegas to the rally.

Hilariously, Sandlin went to an attempted coup, but there is no record of him voting in Nevada, which Biden won by a fairly narrow margin. Typical.
