Megyn Kelly believes that the media is intentionally overhyping January 6th, saying it wasn’t a coup or anything of the sort, just a protest that got a bit out of hand. When Congressman Ted Lieu saw Kelly’s comments, he very responsibly, and very maturely, simply responded with facts and evidence of the coup from the second impeachment trial.
It went back and forth, until Kelly simply lost and very maturely, told Lieu that no one knew who he was and to “grow up.”
Megyn has been paid eight digits to grow up and “go away” from a network due to her racist comments. Many of us would love to be paid the square root of that amount to simply go away to write a novel or eat a sandwich.
Regardless, Kelly is now determined to make a comeback and her only outlet, quite obviously, is on the far right. These days, the only way to engage the far right is to MAGA oneself by insisting that the riot at the Capitol was just not that big a deal.
Of course, the most effective means to do it is slam the media. Kelly originally said:
“There is no question the media represented it as so much worse than it actually was,”
Ted Lieu knows the danger of misinformation, having seen it in Congress, first hand, and boldly tweeted out:
Dear Megyn Kelly: I reviewed a lot of videos and evidence for the second impeachment trial. The most accurate way I can say this is that you have no idea what you are talking about. 140 police officers were injured, some critically. People died. Why are you downplaying Jan 6? https://t.co/u8Glp2Yp8u

Just hours later, Lieu tagged both Kelly and Rep. Ted Clyde (who had made a similar comment, “Normal tour visit that got out of hand,” and Lieu again posted a mature and responsible reply:
Can you take 34 seconds of your time to watch insurrectionists brutally assault police, and the cheering by the mob on Jan 6? This was not, as you say, a “normal tourist visit.” Will you apologize to police for your disparaging comments?”
Despite Lieu’s adulthood and attempt to educate Kelly, she was reduced to a juvenile taunt:
Hey @tedlieu – I realize you get more attention by using my name since most ppl have no clue who you are, but try to get this: saying it was awful but the media overplayed it is not that controversial. Grow up.”

How very grown-up of her! Has Kelly not learned that her first instinctual comments and responses are the ones that get her in the most trouble?
