The San Jose Mercury News reports in a recent broadcast that Mary Trump predicted that Ivanka would turn on dad before Allen Weisselberg or Don Jr. One knows that Mary has insight into the Trumps, being family and all, but she is also a clinical psychologist and can read people and understand their dynamic better than most. But Mary’s prediction on this one basically comes down to accounting, and pretty simple accounting at that.

She thinks that Ivanka will flip first and her rationale is sound:

“She’s much less likely to stay loyal than Allen Weisselberg,” said Mary Trump in a recent interview with the Daily Beast’s New Abnormal podcast. While Mary Trump said it’s hard to believe that Ivanka Trump would turn on her father in such a “low-rent” Shakespearean move, she noted that all relationships between Donald Trump and his four adult children are “transactional and conditional.”

Every relationship or “deal” Trump has ever made is transactional and conditional. He doesn’t have friends. He has allies. He has enemies, everyone is one or the other.

“And I think kind of in the grand scheme of things, as counterintuitive as this might sound, I think Ivanka has, one, more to lose and, two, more to hang onto. Her husband’s family is legitimately very wealthy.”

We would’ve put it “less to lose” speaking from the position of losing out on an inheritance but that inheritance is shrinking by the day and Melania hasn’t even divorced him yet. That’s going to take a bite, too, because he’s going to have to buy her silence in what would be the biggest book advance ever offered.

Don Junior will hold out until the end and – honestly, that didn’t take genius insight, either:

Beneath all Trump Jr.’s Twitter bravado, he’s “broken” because of the way his father treated him growing up, Mary Trump said. “It is never a good thing in the Trump family to be the oldest son,” Mary Trump said. “Donald had this fasciation with Ivanka from the time she was little, and had no use for his sons. … Like his father before him, Donald was very, very hard on Donnie.

“Donnie” (we like that), is broken and, in many ways, he never stood a chance. We would actually feel a bit sorry for him were it not for the fact that he did have the opportunity to get some therapy. There is absolutely no shame in getting therapy and had he done so at age 25-30, when he was coming into adulthood with the realization that he didn’t stand a chance, a therapist might have been able to say, “go get a teaching certificate, move to Eugene Oregon, teach high school P.E., and be a father figure to kids who never had one, see how you feel. No, you will never be wealthy, but you’ll live a much richer life.”

He had that chance, and never took it. Plus, he’s an asshole. So is she, she’s just richer and that will make it interesting if she’s ever in a position to turn on dad and we think she will find herself in that position. Ivanka was paid “consulting fees” to avoid taxes, as was Weisselberg. If any of the others are to be charged before Trump, it will almost surely be Ivanka.
