Rep. Jim Jordan, a Republican, used Twitter to compare the price of petrol in June to the current price.
COVID-19 wreaked havoc on economies and halted travel last spring, causing gas prices to plummet. Actually, this is basic information.
We lived through an apocalyptic nightmare in June of 2020, and demand for petroleum plummeted as Americans became isolated at home.
This year, as opposed to last, it’s all about global supply and demand.
Jordan tweeted that the average petrol price in June 2020 was $2.21 and that it will be $3.07 in June 2021. Jordan blamed the increase in gasoline costs on “Biden’s economy!” Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary, however, used facts to silence the Ohio Republican.
You forgot to mention that gas prices are the same now as they were in June 2018. Or that this time last year unemployment was 11.1% — today it’s 5.8%.@POTUS agrees families shouldn’t pay more at the pump – that’s why he’s opposed to GOP proposals to raise the gas tax. https://t.co/tc5cDXrbJR

Jen Psaki for the win.

Jordan doesn’t understand supply and demand.

Jim Jordan thinks working people have forgotten what was going on in June 2020.
Gas prices were down because people were driving less. Because Trump botched the response to the pandemic, tanking our economy and getting Americans killed.
But sure. President Biden's economy.

It’s almost like in 2020 demand was down due to everyone being at home because of the Trump virus. And also Presidents don’t control gas prices. You’d think being in office for 14 years, you’d learn something.

My third grade students learned about supply and demand in social studies. Perhaps I should send Jordan a copy of the book about supply and demand and lemonade stands?

Fuel prices are cyclical. They rise every summer with increased demand. You, however, appear to be ignorant year around.
