There has been quite a bit of talk lately about whether a retired military officer can be court-martialed. Of course, a retired service member cannot be “kicked out” of the service, but there are a lot of benefits, especially for a former three-star general (a LOT of benefits) that perhaps could and should be cut off. A case is currently in front of the DC Court of Appeals as to whether a retiree can be officially court-martialed.

If the answer becomes yes, Mike Flynn is the most deserving candidate there can be. This is the man who, despite swearing to protect the constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic, waxed poetically about how what happened in Myanmar (a military coup taking over from a democratically elected government) should happen here.

This is the man who has been caught on camera pledging allegiance to Qanon, then said it’s a family tradition. This is a man who was, inexplicably, sitting next to Putin at a state dinner, a situation in which no American should ever find oneself. He lied to the FBI about calls to Russia and what was said in those calls.

All of that is known. This last weekend at a conference at the Church of Glad Tidings, Flynn received a gift, something that says thank you in a very warm and Christian way. He received an assault rifle. Because nothing says Jesus’s message quite like an assault rifle.

But that wasn’t enough, upon receiving the gift, Flynn said that he might find someone in Washington DC. How sick an individual must Flynn be? We were of the impression that people who buy and possess firearms do so with the hope that they only ever use it on targets, or not at all. Who gets a gun, especially one like that (not a quail shotgun) and immediately thinks of using it on a person, specifically?

Sick man, and undeserving of anything from our military.
