There has been a change in the wind this last week to ten days, we’ve reported it, along with everyone else. Whether it’s being driven by the fear of lawsuits, genuine concern that COVID will become branded as a MAGA disease, or just the realization that this country is not coming back if MAGAs don’t get vaccinated, or likely a bit of all three, there has been far more talk on Fox News, and even Alabama’s governor came out this week imploring the state to get vaccinated. (Ron-Don Santis had no comment, despite 20% of new cases originating in Florida)
Something is changing. And even Trump seems to be in on it.
Trump has more aggressively come out in talking about how “he created” the vaccine (at Saturday’s rally), Kayleigh – why surely has a direct line to Trump in order to spew disinformation on Fox said “Trump ‘made’ the vaccine” and, of course, Hannity, Fox and Friends, etc.
Americans will tolerate the utter hypocrisy in the MAGA media suddenly deciding that saving lives through vaccination is a good idea, Americans genuinely want people saved and getting their country back. But they will absolutely not allow Trump to take credit for a vaccine that he claims was said to take 3-5 years. No, as we’re sure everyone recalls, the goal was “by the end of the year,” and that was a pretty good prediction. The vaccine was available a little earlier for the most vulnerable, seniors in nursing homes and medical staff, and then become more generally available in January. It really became more available when Biden took over the distribution.
Trump removed some red tape, just like every other world leader, just like Johnson in the U.K. and Merkel in Germany. Putin didn’t even wait that long, though we’re not sure about the records coming out of Russia.
Regardless, Trump doesn’t deserve credit – at all – for the creation of the vaccine itself, and a real president would not want the credit. A real president would use it to promote science generally: “No one person can take credit for the vaccine. It is a testament to modern science and what can happen when the people of the world join together in a massive effort to save lives. It is a crowning achievement for all of us and it should serve as a valuable lesson going forward.”

It isn’t that hard and that’s what W Bush would’ve said, Obama, and Biden. Only Trump would want to take sole credit, and Americans are fcking tired of it:
"I came up with the vaccine."
Can someone ask Trump to actually explain what a vaccine is or does? https://t.co/ZTJVj7A7ls

"I came up with the vaccine." Oh my god. You know what fine whatever as long as this nonsense gets people to actually take the vaccine.

“I came up with the vaccine…it’s a great achievement.” 😖 Banging my head on the wall has had a deleterious effect on my well being. Pardon me while I go lie down.

He’s afraid of losing his rabid base if he tells them to do something that will actually helps save their lives and the lives of their loved ones. 😬
