The United States Senate; “The World’s Most Deliberative Body,” or so it was once known and maybe – by tradition – still referenced as such. Put another way, the chamber has historically been renowned for its seriousness, decorum, and all that, despite the fact that right now, it looks more like the bar scene in Star Wars.

It is still the United States Senate and things like this just don’t happen or didn’t use to happen. Crazy evening cable hosts did not draw the attention of serious people. It would likely remain that way except for the fact that these “evening cable” people have become one of America’s most serious health threats.

Sen. Dick Durbin used a New York Times article to point out that Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham have used their shows to promote an anti-vaccine campaign. Framed as such, it is a subject worthy of the Senate’s attention.

Sen. Durbin said:

“There are two hosts of programs on Fox prime time that can only be characterized as Anti-vax quacks. I’m referring of course to Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham,”

“They have been spreading, what I consider to be, irresponsible information about vaccines across America and about the effort of this nation to deal with them,”

Durbin then went so far as to say that Rupert Murdoch is vaccinated and we would bet our entire life savings – conveniently in a wallet right now, that Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham have also had themselves vaccinated. These are not stupid people, they’re actors who play stupid people on television and are paid far better than most actors.

These actors are actually causing people to needlessly die for that money. They surely know that the risks posed by COVID outweigh any from the vaccine by a factor of god only knows – literally, right now, only God knows.

We do not know whether they promote the anti-vax movement because that’s what their audience wants to hear, or whether they want their audience to hear about it in order to deny Biden the victory, “conquering COVID.”

There is a good chance it is both and that makes it blood money, an entirely appropriate topic for the United States Senate.
