It appears that the majority of Arizonans are not impressed by the freak audit engineered by the Arizona MAGAs doing Trump’s bidding in what appears to possibly be the first attempt of many to “find” extra votes for Trump, which – according to your local MAGA, would put Trump over the top and get him reinstated.
It doesn’t matter in the slightest that anyone reading this column has an equal shot at being appointed president in mid-August as Trump. This is about money and hatred directed at election officials in an attempt to win next time.
Except that “winning next time” might be a bit of an issue.
Sean Noble, is a GOP organizer in Arizona, and he made it clear to Politico that the recount in Maricopa County “is a failure, it’s a joke,” while warning MAGA-Republicans in other states to not make the same mistake. “Avoid it. The election is long over, time to look forward.”
In a poll of Arizona residents regarding the audit, Fernand Amandi said, “As bloody red meat for the MAGA Republican base, the audit is manna from heaven, but the problem is that Arizona is not a red state any more. It’s a swing state. The audit may be serving two interests: firing up the MAGA base but giving Democrats the opportunity to make the case to Arizona voters to stick with them.”
According to Rawstory, the audit has also cost Arizona some unanticipated expenses:
On Monday, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, which opposes the audit, revealed that it will have to replace voting machines used in the recount, at taxpayers’ expense, because their legitimacy has been compromised.
The audit was a joke before it even got off the ground and was almost surely ordered by Donald Trump. The legislature that authorized funds should have considered the golden rule. Everything Trump touches dies.
